My approach
I strive to foster a warm and supportive therapy space where collaboration and working as a team are emphasized. Treatment with me is grounded in evidence-based approaches that are tailored to your unique needs. My goal is to help those I work with find more effective ways to cope and manage their emotions.
I have extensive training and experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a modality that focuses on identifying and changing the thoughts and behaviors that lead to challenges and feeling stuck. CBT is an evidence-based intervention for a range of anxiety and mood disorders, as well as behavioral problems. Within the CBT framework, I provide Exposure and Response Prevention (E/RP) for OCD, PCIT (parent-child interaction therapy) and parent training for early childhood behavior problems, and other research-backed therapies for parents of children with anxiety (e.g., PCIT-SM and SPACE). I also have training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which incorporates mindfulness, acceptance, and values work alongside the change-oriented strategies of CBT. I often integrate these concepts into sessions when working with individuals going through stressful life transitions, such as during the perinatal period and other phases of the parenting journey.
Education & experience
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in New York and I work with adolescents, adults, and parents of young children. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Columbia University and my doctorate in Combined Child and School Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University. My dissertation examined the sociocultural and religious influences on disordered eating in undergraduate women.
I completed my predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Cognitive and Behavioral Consultants (CBC) of Westchester and Manhattan, where I received intensive training in CBT and DBT and conducted individual and group therapy for a range of emotional and behavioral problems. As a member of CBC’s School Consulting team, I provided training to school districts on the implementation of DBT within school settings and consulted to specific teams regularly throughout the school year.
Following my training years, I served as a licensed clinical psychologist at Growing Minds Psychology where I conducted individual therapy for children with anxiety and behavior problems, as well as parent training and PCIT.
